Job summary

Merck is seeking a Senior Specialist, Scientific Software Engineer to join the Digital Insights team within DSCS. The role focuses on designing, building, and sustaining scalable software and data platforms for drug development and analytical workflows.

You will partner with IT, security, and data governance to deploy enterprise-grade solutions, converting scientist-built prototypes into robust production systems that enable faster, reliable decision making across the portfolio.

Qualifications

Deep software development expertise with hands-on production-grade apps and APIs using Python or equivalent.
Experience scaling prototypes to production by architecting reusable platforms and consolidating tools.
Collaboration with IT, infrastructure, security, and data governance to deploy software in enterprise environments.
Strong data engineering skills with demonstrated experience.

Responsibilities

Provide software and data engineering to build, scale, and sustain scientific and automation solutions, from prototype to production.
Design and build reusable platforms, backend services, and APIs unifying instrument and lab data at scale.
Lead data engineering and data product development, managing pipelines and data models for analytics-ready data.
Partner with IT, infrastructure, security, and governance teams to deploy and sustain production solutions.
Own end-to-end software delivery including architecture, development, testing, deployment, and documentation.
