Job summary

MSD is seeking a Senior Specialist, Scientific Software Engineer to join the Digital Insights team within DSCS. You will design and build reusable platforms, backend services, and APIs for production-grade data solutions that enable robust analytics across drug development pipelines.

You will lead data engineering efforts, implement pipelines, and partner with IT, security, and vendor teams to deploy scalable software in production, while mentoring scientists and ensuring reliability and

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in a closely related field.
• M.S. in Computer Science, Data Science, or related with 2+ years industrial/pharma experience.
• B.S. in Computer Science, Data Science, or related with 4+ years industrial/pharma experience.
• Hands-on experience building production-grade software.

Responsibilities

• Provide software and data engineering to build scalable, enterprise-grade production software.
• Design reusable platforms, backend services, and APIs for unified data.
• Lead data engineering, pipelines, and data products for analytics-ready data.
• Collaborate with IT, infrastructure, security, and vendors to productionize solutions.
• Own end-to-end software delivery including architecture, testing, and CI/CD.
• Mentor scientists and lead production rollouts to reduce key-person risk.
• Demonstrate strong communication and collaboration across teams.
• Model and embrace core values and a collaborative culture.
