Job summary

Merck is seeking a Senior Specialist, Scientific Software Engineer to join the Digital Insights team in DSCS Digital Technologies. This hybrid role focuses on building scalable software, data pipelines, and enterprise-grade solutions across the drug development portfolio.

Responsibilities include end‑to‑end software delivery, partnering with IT and governance, and translating complex scientific needs into durable software. Relocation and visa sponsorship may be available under policy.

Qualifications

• Hands-on production-grade software development with Python or similar languages.
• Experience designing scalable platforms and data pipelines in enterprise settings.
• Collaboration with IT, security, data governance and vendor teams in production.

Responsibilities

• Provide software and data engineering to build, scale, and sustain scientific and automation solutions.
• Design reusable platforms, backend services, and APIs unifying instrument and lab data.
• Lead data engineering and data product development, pipelines, models, and data products.
• Partner with IT, infrastructure, security, and governance to deploy solutions in production.
• Own end-to-end delivery including architecture, testing, CI/CD, and documentation.
• Mentor scientists and engineers during onboarding and production rollout.
