Job summary

Merck & Co. in Rahway, NJ, seeks a Senior Specialist, Scientific Software Engineer to join the Digital Insights team. You will own software and data engineering across a portfolio of scientific tools, designing platforms, pipelines, and APIs for scalable, analytics-ready data across pipelines and experiments.

You will collaborate with IT, security, and vendors to productionize solutions, mentor teams, and lead end-to-end delivery with best practices in version control, testing, and CI/CD.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or advanced degree with relevant industrial/pharmaceutical experience.
• Strong software development and data engineering background.
• Experience with Python, APIs, data pipelines, and production systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide software and data engineering to build, scale, and sustain scientific and automation solutions.
• Design reusable platforms, backend services, and APIs for lab data.
• Lead data pipelines, models, and data products for analytics-ready data.
• Collaborate with IT, security, governance and vendor teams for production deployment.
• Own end-to-end software delivery including architecture, testing, CI/CD.
