Washington County Public Schools is hiring a Lead Custodian II at Williamsport High School for the 2nd shift. The role oversees cleaning, maintenance, and facilities operations, with a 12-month work year and a salary scale of $19.26–$34.84 per hour.

The position requires supervision of staff, strong communication, and reliable attendance. The incumbent will manage custodial services, coordinate with other maintenance staff, and ensure safe, clean environments for students and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of maintenance tools.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
• Experience in commercial cleaning and building maintenance.
• Experience supervising other employees or prior custodian lead role.
• Ability to use computer systems for orders, work orders, and email.
• Regular attendance is essential.
• Willingness to participate in in-service training.
• Ability to meet essential functions with/without accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise custodians.
• Maintain the physical plant of a large high school.
• All phases of interior cleaning using hand and machine tools.
• Develop knowledge of the school's mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Develop proficiency with emergency lighting, fire protection and security systems.
• Perform and direct grounds-keeping including snow removal.
• Make minor repairs to equipment and buildings.
• Order supplies and maintain inventory.
• Provide custodial services after hours and on non-school days.
