Job summary

Washington County Public Schools is seeking a Custodian for Williamsport Elementary School. This 12-month, 2nd shift position involves cleaning and maintaining the school environment to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming facility for students and staff.

The role requires high school diploma or GED, physical ability to perform manual tasks, and reliable attendance. Preferences include experience in commercial cleaning and basic grounds maintenance. Reports to the Facilities Operations Manager.

Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
Capable of climbing stairs, ladders, and carrying loads as required.
Ability to follow oral or simple written instructions.
Willingness to participate in in-service training programs.
Regular and predictable attendance is essential.

Responsibilities

Perform cleaning and custodial tasks (scrubbing, mopping, sweeping, waxing, dusting) using hand or mechanical tools.
Maintain a presence to deter theft or vandalism and protect school facilities.
Care for and monitor heating/air conditioning systems as needed.
Assist with minor emergency repairs.
Clean and maintain grounds and facilities records; order supplies when needed.
Demonstrate courteous professionalism to all stakeholders.
Perform other duties as assigned.
