Job summary

SOLV Energy is a leading provider of infrastructure services to the power industry, designing, building and maintaining utility scale solar, battery storage and high voltage substation projects nationwide. SOLV Energy is seeking a Senior SCADA Engineer, EPC, to lead SCADA and PPC engineering for the SOLV OTS SCADA solution on utility‑scale PV and BESS projects.

This role can be fully remote or hybrid, with regular in‑office presence in Bend, OR.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in electrical, mechanical or energy engineering is preferred.
• 6‑8 years of engineering experience or equivalent, including renewable energy experience (industrial or utility‑scale PV solar, BESS or wind desired). Direct experience in SCADA engineering.
• Advanced working knowledge of programming languages including C, C++, Java, Python, IEC61131‑3 Structured Text.
• Advanced working knowledge of Ignition SCADA or other similar platforms.
• Advanced knowledge of Windows servers, databases, and SCADA applications.
• Advanced knowledge of PLC equipment including RTAC, Allen-Bradley, GE/Emerson RX3i or similar environments.
• Advanced knowledge of tuning PID loops and SCADA networks (fiber, RS-232/485, Ethernet).
• Advanced knowledge of industrial protocols Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3, OPC UA/DA.
• Ability to read and develop diagrams for power, networking and control layouts.
• Familiarity with power plant ops and regulatory bodies.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and commissioning of SCADA monitoring and control systems for utility-scale projects (PV and BESS).
• Define and implement SCADA design standards aligned with company goals.
• Own end-to-end PPC implementation including programming, integration, testing, and acceptance.
• Maintain project documentation (SAT reports, plant narratives, device lists, training material).
• Provide expert technical support for SCADA configurations.
• Serve as escalation point for PPC and SCADA issues.
• Mentor junior engineers and reinforce standards.
• Drive standardization and process improvements across projects.
• Coordinate with customers and field technicians for on-site commissioning.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for SCADA integration.
• Provide status updates and risk assessments to ensure timely delivery.
• Promote a collaborative, solution-oriented culture and NERC compliance.
• Support operations handoff for reliable long-term performance.
• Identify opportunities to improve system performance and reduce commissioning time.
