Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Senior Power Conversion Engineer to design power electronics hardware for a new generation of space power systems. You will own hardware from topology selection to detailed design, prototyping, testing, and field support within a small, high-ownership team.

You will collaborate with controls, EM design, and mechanical engineers, build prototype hardware, and develop reliable, high-performance power systems for aerospace applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience designing power electronics hardware (converters, inverters, exciters) required.
• Strong fundamentals in power devices, magnetics, and thermal management.
• Experience with circuit simulation tools and/or PCB design tools.
• Experience taking hardware from concept through design, build and test.
• U.S. export control compliance; citizenship or permanent residency may be required.

Responsibilities

• Design power electronic converter/inverter topologies for advanced power equipment.
• Select and size power semiconductors, gate drive circuitry, and magnetics.
• Perform electrical stress, thermal, and reliability analysis of hardware.
• Develop control strategies and interfaces for power conversion systems.
• Design and review schematics, PCB layouts, and packaging.
• Build and test prototype hardware including bench and full-scale validation.
• Support root-cause investigation and design iteration from test data.
• Produce design documentation, test procedures, and specifications.
