Job summary

Blue Origin in Washington state seeks a seasoned algorithm designer to own scheduling, routing, and resource allocation for the TeraWave constellation. You will develop and validate models translating customer requirements and physical constraints into scalable production solutions.

You will collaborate with engineers across disciplines, implement tools in MATLAB or Python, and contribute to constellation‑level performance analyses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field.
• 5+ years of algorithm development for scheduling, routing, or resource allocation.
• Proficiency in MATLAB and/or Python for scientific computing.
• Strong foundations in graph algorithms and scheduling techniques.
• Ability to document designs and performance results for cross‑team use.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop beam planning and scheduling algorithms for the TeraWave constellation.
• Design dwell time optimization strategies maximizing throughput under constraints.
• Create time, frequency, and power scheduling for shared resources.
• Develop routing algorithms for the OISL mesh with latency constraints.
• Implement load balancing and rerouting to handle failures.
• Design gateway-satellite assignment algorithms to optimize ground use.
• Develop handover algorithms to minimize disruption.
• Perform scalability analyses for full constellation scale (3,000+ satellites).
• Conduct trade studies on design choices and provide algorithm-backed recommendations.
• Integrate models within the Integrated System Model.
• Collaborate with multiple teams to incorporate constraints.
• Translate designs into production specs with interfaces and acceptance criteria.
• Communicate results clearly via reports and visuals.
• Build MATLAB/Python tools with version control.
• Support reproducibility and rapid trade studies as the constellation evolves.
