Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced communications engineer to design and optimize PHY, modem, and DSP algorithms for high-throughput satellite systems. You will model and simulate end-to-end performance using MATLAB, Python, and C/C++, collaborating with ASIC, RF, firmware, and system teams.

The role involves supporting pre-silicon verification, prototyping, system integration, and post-silicon validation, while contributing to architecture decisions for the TeraWave platform and coordinating

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field.
• 10+ years of experience in communications systems, modem design, signal processing, or DSP algorithm development.
• Strong understanding of digital communications and signal processing fundamentals.
• Hands-on experience developing/simulating communications and DSP algorithms with MATLAB, Python, C/C++.
• Understanding of OFDM-based systems: synchronization, channel estimation, equalization, modulation/demodulation.
• Experience with end-to-end simulation of modem/PHY algorithms.
• Familiarity with RF impairments and practical deployment considerations.
• US citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize PHY, modem, and DSP algorithms for high-throughput satellite systems.
• Develop algorithms for synchronization, carrier/spacing estimation and compensation, channel estimation, equalization, SNR estimation, modulation/demodulation.
• Model/evaluate modem algorithms using MATLAB, Python, C/C++, and system-level simulations.
• Collaborate with ASIC, RF, firmware, and system teams to translate algorithms into implementation.
• Support pre-silicon verification, prototyping, integration, and post-silicon validation.
• Analyze end-to-end system performance and identify improvement opportunities.
• Provide technical guidance on modem and communications-system architecture decisions.
