Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a senior technical engineer to develop and optimize PHY, modem, and DSP algorithms for the TeraWave satellite system. You will work across communications theory, DSP modeling, and system validation with ASIC, RF, firmware, and system teams.

The role emphasizes hands-on algorithm development, end-to-end simulations, and collaboration across multiple engineering disciplines. Relocation is provided, and onsite work is required in multiple U.S. sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in communications systems, modem design, signal processing, or DSP algorithm development.
• Strong understanding of digital communications and signal processing fundamentals.
• Hands-on experience developing and simulating communications and DSP algorithms using MATLAB, Python, C/C++, or similar tools.
• Strong understanding of OFDM-based communication systems, including synchronization, channel estimation, equalization, modulation/demodulation, and frequency-domain signal processing.
• Experience with end-to-end simulations of modem/PHY algorithms.
• Familiarity with RF and channel impairments and their impact on modem performance.
• U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize PHY, modem, and DSP algorithms for high-throughput satellite systems.
• Create MATLAB, C/C++, or Python models to evaluate modem algorithms and system performance.
• Model and analyze channels and impairments, including noise and RF issues.
• Collaborate with ASIC, RF, firmware, and system teams to implement algorithms.
• Support pre-silicon verification, prototyping, and post-silicon validation.
