Job summary

Blue Origin LLC seeks a Satellite Flight Software Engineer III to design, develop, and verify flight software for the TeraWave constellation. You will implement C&DH and telemetry processing, time management, and secure interfaces across subsystems, collaborating with hardware and autonomy teams to ensure robust, mission-critical software.

The role emphasizes development, testing (SIL/HIL), on-orbit support, and mentoring of junior engineers in a challenging space environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
• 6+ years of experience in spacecraft flight software or embedded software development.
• Strong programming skills in C, C++, and Python.
• Familiarity with CCSDS standards for space telemetry/command processing.
• Experience with RTOS and embedded Linux environments.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles for space systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement flight software for C&DH and telemetry processing.
• Develop telecommand/telemetry processing software and health data management.
• Implement spacecraft time management and GPS/GNSS synchronization.
• Create interfaces between C&DH and other subsystems for safe operations.
• Collaborate with hardware and systems engineers on requirements and interfaces.
• Develop and integrate simulation environments for SIL/HIL testing.
• Participate in software reviews, validation, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Support on-orbit operations and mentor junior engineers.
