Role Summary

The Senior Safety Specialist will coordinate and implement the field safety program for routine and complex construction projects. Responsibilities include conducting safety inspections, identifying hazardous conditions, writing reports, and performing trend analysis, all in support of JE Dunn's strategy, vision, and values.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core

• Coordinate and implement the field safety program for routine construction projects.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and audits, document findings, and recommend abatement of hazards.
• Oversee new hire safety orientations and compliance with drug and alcohol policies.
• Monitor and support the safety programs of prime contractors and subcontractors.
• Participate in safety-related meetings and support safety committee activities.
• Assist in investigating accidents and implementing corrective measures.
• Coordinate with medical providers for injured employees and monitor injury reports.

Key Role Responsibilities - Additional Core

In addition, the Senior Safety Specialist will:

• Handle more complex safety hazards and provide advanced solutions.
• Utilize safety management systems for trend analysis and risk mitigation.
• Provide guidance and training on safety topics.
• Support safety leadership during audits and manage complex projects.
• Develop and implement training strategies and monitor safety metrics for improvement.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proficiency in MS Office and safety software.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and hazard recognition.
• Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in a safety or health-related field preferred; relevant experience considered as an alternative.
• Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience required.

Working Environment

• Valid driver's license required.
