Role Summary

The Senior Safety Specialist will coordinate and implement the field safety program for routine and complex construction projects. Responsibilities include conducting safety inspections, identifying hazardous conditions, writing reports, and performing trend analysis, all in support of JE Dunn's strategy, vision, and values.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core

• Coordinate and implement the field safety program for routine construction projects.
• Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with laws and company policies.
• Perform safety audits, identify hazards, document findings, and recommend abatement strategies.
• Conduct new hire safety orientations and oversee drug and alcohol policy compliance.
• Monitor and support the implementation of safety programs by prime contractors and subcontractors.
• Participate in project meetings to discuss safety issues.
• Assist in investigating accidents and recommend process improvements.
• Coordinate with injured employees and clinics for timely treatment and return to work.
• Monitor site safety incentive programs.

Key Role Responsibilities - Additional Core

In addition, the Senior Safety Specialist will:

• Handle more complex safety hazards and provide advanced solutions.
• Utilize extensive safety knowledge for project-specific recommendations.
• Lead and contribute actively in safety meetings.
• Perform trend analysis to identify safety issues and recommend solutions.
• Provide safety training and guidance to team members.
• Assist in insurance audits and oversee complex projects or multiple projects.
• Develop and implement safety training strategies and programs.
• Monitor safety metrics and identify areas for improvement.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Ability to perform work accurately and efficiently.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office and safety management software.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and hazard recognition.
• Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in safety or related field preferred; relevant experience considered in lieu.
• Minimum 5 years construction safety experience required.
