Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Senior Safety Engineer I to implement the Zero Injury Safety program across multiple project sites, ensuring a safe environment for personnel, subcontractors, and visitors. The role requires leading safety audits, incident analysis, and coordination with client safety teams.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's in safety or equivalent or CHST/OSHA 500 with extensive construction safety leadership. Travel up to 100% is expected; a valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in safety, occupational health, or equivalent.
• OR: High school diploma with CHST, OSHA 500, and 10 years construction experience leading crews and planning work, to include at least six years as a dedicated construction safety professional responsible for managing project safety programs, hazard analyses and developing controls, training, and planning work activities.
• Minimum of four years of construction safety experience
• Current valid driver's license
• Detail-oriented with the ability to organize and manage multiple project tasks

Responsibilities

• Implement and administer safety programs at worksites, including site-specific safety activities and training programs
• Document and track safety violations, conduct safety audits, and analyze loss control data
• Lead OSHA reporting, monitor subcontractor activities, and review safety submittals
• Record, monitor, and analyze safety, injury, and hazard statistics
• Provide safety-related information, evaluate industrial hygiene concerns, and maintain knowledge of safety standards
• Serve as a resource for safety issues, attend safety meetings, and assist with major incident analysis
• Work with client safety personnel, union representatives, and insurance risk engineers
• Ensure maintenance and inspection of safety equipment and build relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
