Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a seasoned Environmental, Health & Safety leader to plan, develop and manage comprehensive protection programs across the division. The role establishes a safety-driven culture and oversees audits, investigations, training, and policy implementation to ensure regulatory compliance and safe operations.

The candidate will coordinate with management to deliver strategic EH&S initiatives, manage personnel, and drive continuous improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health, Environmental Applied Sciences or related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years’ experience in EH&S including people management experience.
• Certifications in CPR and First Aid.
• OSHA 10hr, OSHA 30hr, OSHA 40hr training, preferred.
• OSHA 500, CHST or ASP certifications preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of workplace safety laws, regulations, policies and procedures, including OSHA, NFPA, EPA and DOT standards.
• Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills: Ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet established deadlines.
• Strong analytical skills: Ability to identify known/potential exposure and recommend corrective actions.
• Proficient computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and health and safety management systems and platforms.

Responsibilities

• Manages safety audits and inspections and recommends corrections to hazards for the entire division.
• Develops, implements and maintains employee safety training programs and records.
• Develops reports and presentations for safety briefings with company management.
• Provides strategic direction on initiatives to improve EH&S performance and reduce risks.
• Implements safety policies and ensures compliance across locations and subcontractors.
• Oversees programs to ensure compliance with regulations and internal policies.
• Guides departmental processes including incident investigations and safety initiatives.
