Job summary

SOFTSWISS is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Ruby) to join the Data Quality Platform team. You will own backend engineering efforts, focusing on architecture, orchestration, data models, and PostgreSQL performance for a high-load DQ platform that runs millions of checks daily.

You will own production behavior of services and may contribute to UI features as needed, with AI-assisted workflows and strong ownership across the stack. English proficiency at least B1+ is expected.

Qualifications

• Strong Ruby and Rails skills.
• Strong experience in developing and operating high-load production systems.
• Deep PostgreSQL expertise: query planning, indexing, locking and performance tuning.
• Strong SQL skills; able to investigate complex data discrepancies across large datasets.
• Experience with asynchronous systems: background jobs, queues, retries, idempotency and recovery.
• Experience designing complex backend systems from scratch and evolving them safely in production.
• Hands-on production ownership: metrics, logs, tracing, incident investigation and performance analysis.
• Product mindset and entrepreneurial ownership; see opportunities and drive delivery.
• Intermediate or higher English (B1+).

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve architecture of a high-load DQ platform running millions of checks daily.
• Improve throughput, latency, and reliability of orchestration, scheduling, and retries.
• Profile and optimise PostgreSQL-heavy workloads; migrate to ClickHouse where appropriate.
• Lead backend migration of statistics and analytics workloads to ClickHouse.
• Build features around DQ coverage, table lineage, incident lifecycle, and investigation.
• Contribute to platform UI when needed to deliver end-to-end capability using AI workflows.
• Own reliability and production behavior of backend services; diagnose incidents and improve observability.
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
• Scale DQ adoption across the company with reliable integrations and configurations.
• Work with data producers, infrastructure and business teams.
• Turn product/tech/operational problems into production-ready improvements.
