Job summary

MILE is seeking an accomplished backend engineer to design scalable, high-performance systems powering our e-commerce platform in New York. You will craft APIs for frontend, mobile, and third-party integrations, and architect modules for membership, catalog, checkout, and payments.

Must be a Ruby-focused developer with deep knowledge of Rails AREL, DSLs, and PostgreSQL. You will mentor juniors and help define scalable backend architecture in a fast-growing luxury tech brand.

Qualifications

• 7+ years building and scaling backend systems in production environments.
• Genuine Rubyist with metaprogramming and DSL experience; Rails AREL knowledge desired.
• Experience with concurrency, inventory/price management, and third-party API design.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, high-performance backend systems for ecommerce.
• Build and maintain APIs for frontend, mobile, and integrations.
• Architect systems for membership access, catalog, checkout, orders, and payments.
• Collaborate across product, design, and data teams to deliver features.
• Own backend services end-to-end from design to deployment and monitoring.
