Job summary

Tampa Electric Company in Florida seeks a Sr or Principal Engineer, RTU Technical to lead RTU commissioning and SCADA integration for EMS support. The role oversees IBEW electricians and partners with multiple departments to ensure safe, reliable, and high-quality protection and control systems.

Strong emphasis on engineering supervision and field-ready solutions. The position requires a BS in Engineering (ABET) with PE licensure preferred, and extensive RTU/SCADA experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering (ABET accredited); Engineering Tech accepted
• Master of Science in Electrical Engineering preferred

Responsibilities

• Supports EMS/ADMS/grid modelers in commissioning RTUs and troubleshooting
• Provides engineering support during checkout and construction phases
• Consults with Telecomm, Planning, Distribution Engineering, IT to define RTU requirements
• Provides guidance and training as RTU engineering specialist to design engineers and personnel
• Maintains knowledge of RTU configurations and various comms protocols (Broadband, Wireless, DNP/IP)
