Job summary

Tampa Electric Company is seeking a Sr or Principal Engineer for Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) Technical support. The role focuses on RTU configuration, SCADA communications, and integration with EMS/ADMS for reliable energy delivery.

Ideal candidates will have substantial RTU/SCADA experience, ABET-credited engineering credentials, and strong leadership to supervise an IBEW team within a dynamic utility environment in Florida.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from ABET accredited college/university.
• Engineering Technology degree from ABET accredited program accepted.
• Preferred: Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from ABET accredited college/university.
• Preferred: Professional Engineer license in the State of Florida.

Responsibilities

• Support EMS/ADMS/grid operations modelers in commissioning RTUs.
• Provide interpretation of engineering design during construction.
• Consult with departments to establish RTU requirements and philosophy.
• Provide RTU engineering guidance to design engineers and operations staff.
• Ensure TEC system requirements for RTUs and Grid Automation align with plans.
• Maintain contact with industry professionals and stay current on protocols.
• Supervise IBEW Energy System Electricians team.
