Job summary

Tampa Electric Company in Bearss Operations Center, LUTZ, FL is seeking a Sr or Principal Engineer, RTU Technical, to support SCADA input to the EMS. This role focuses on ensuring a Safe, reliable and high-quality protection and control system, with supervision of IBEW-credentialed Electricians.

The position requires a BS in Engineering (ABET), Florida PE eligibility preferred, and extensive RTU/SCADA experience across EMS integration and grid automation. Competitive benefits and salary offered.

Qualifications

• Required: Senior Engineer with Florida PE eligibility or equivalent
• Preferred: MS in Electrical Engineering from ABET program
• Experience in Substation RTU and RTU/R&C work
• Strong RTU configuration and SCADA knowledge

Responsibilities

• Supports EMS/ADMS/grid operations modelers in commissioning RTUs and troubleshooting.
• Provide Engineering support during checkout and construction phases.
• Consult with Telecomm., Planning, Distribution Engineering, Energy Supply, Dispatch, IT and other Utilities to define RTU requirements.
• Provide guidance and training as RTU engineering specialist to design engineers and operating personnel.
• Ensure TEC system requirements for RTUs and Grid Automation align with Energy Delivery plans and policies.
• Maintain contact with utility personnel and participate in professional organizations.
• Provide supervision to team of IBEW covered Energy System Electricians.
