Job summary

DNV Energy Systems North America is seeking a Rotating Machinery Senior Engineer to support advisory services across M&A, IE, and OE. The role requires deep expertise in both thermal rotating equipment and wind drivetrain systems, with strong RCA and reliability engineering capabilities.

The position is hybrid across multiple North American offices, including San Diego, with travel up to 20% and collaboration with developers, owners, lenders, and investors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
• Minimum eight years of experience in rotating machinery across wind and thermal assets.
• Experience evaluating asset condition, performance, and reliability in operational environments.
• Strong experience with root cause analysis and failure investigations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as rotating machinery SME across advisory engagements for thermal and wind assets.
• Lead technical evaluations of equipment and portfolios (gas/steam turbines, wind turbines, gearboxes).
• Assess asset condition and reliability using operating data, inspections, and maintenance history.
• Support due diligence, IE, and OE scopes, including review of turbine systems and plant configurations.
• Perform RCA for rotating equipment failures and recommend mitigations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to client deliverables.
