Job summary

DNV Energy Systems North America is seeking a Rotating Machinery Senior Engineer SME to support advisory services across M&A, IE, and OE. The role requires deep expertise in both wind and thermal rotating equipment, with emphasis on equipment behavior, failure mechanisms, and maintenance strategies.

The position is based across multiple DNV Advisory offices in North America with a dynamic hybrid schedule, typically three days per week at an office or client site.

Qualifications

• Strong practical experience in thermal rotating equipment and wind turbine drivetrain systems.
• Deep understanding of equipment behavior and failure mechanisms.
• Experience applying RCA and reliability engineering to real assets.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical evaluations of equipment and portfolios (thermal and wind).
• Assess asset condition, performance, and reliability from data and history.
• Evaluate operation regimes and effects on cycling, load-following, and transients.
• Support technical due diligence and owner’s engineering scopes.
• Perform root cause analysis for rotating equipment failures and suggest mitigations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to client discussions.
• Contribute to technical reports and client deliverables.
• Mentor team members and build rotating machinery capability.
