Job summary

DNV Energy Systems is seeking a Rotating Machinery Senior Engineer SME to support advisory services (M&A, IE, OE) across wind and thermal assets. The role emphasizes diagnosing equipment behavior, performing RCA, and translating findings into actionable insights for developers, owners, lenders and investors.

The position is based in multiple North American locations with a hybrid schedule, three days per week in offices or client sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical preferred) with 8+ years rotating machinery experience.
• Strong RCA and failure investigation experience across wind and thermal systems.
• Ability to interpret data and translate findings for technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Serve as rotating machinery SME across advisory engagements for thermal and wind assets.
• Lead technical evaluations of turbines, gearboxes, generators, and drivetrain components.
• Assess asset condition, performance, and reliability using operating data, inspection findings, and maintenance history.
• Perform root cause analysis of failures and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Contribute to technical reports, client deliverables, and risk assessments.
