Job summary

DNV Energy Systems North America seeks a Rotating Machinery Senior Engineer SME to support advisory services across M&A, IE, and OE. You will bring hands-on expertise in both thermal rotating equipment and wind turbine drivetrain systems to diagnose failures and guide investment decisions.

Based in a hybrid role with multiple U.S. offices, you will perform RCA, lead technical evaluations, and mentor team members while translating complex data into clear insights for developers, owners, lenders

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical preferred).
• Minimum eight years’ rotating machinery experience across wind and thermal assets.
• Proven RCA and failure investigations experience.
• Experience supporting operations, maintenance, or asset management.
• Strong English communication and travel up to 20%.

Responsibilities

• Serve as rotating machinery SME on advisory engagements involving both thermal generation and wind generation assets.
• Lead technical evaluations of equipment and portfolios, including gas turbines, steam turbines, and wind turbine systems.
• Assess asset condition, performance, and reliability using operating data, inspection findings, and maintenance history.
• Perform root cause analysis for rotating equipment failures across wind and thermal assets.
• Support technical due diligence, independent engineering, and owner’s engineering scopes.
• Contribute to technical reports and client deliverables, synthesizing complex findings into clear, decision-oriented insights.
• Mentor team members and contribute to building internal capability in rotating machinery.
