Job summary

Intuitive is a global leader in robotic-assisted surgery and minimally invasive care, creating technologies like the da Vinci system and Ion. We seek a Senior Software Engineer to advance real-time software infrastructure for observability and data pipelines across our robotics platform.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect applications that visualize system status, process multimodal data, and extend processing frameworks for next-generation products.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years of experience and a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years of experience and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years of experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python and ability to understand C++.
• Familiarity building distributed systems and observability data (logs, events, data streams) from robotics or embedded devices.
• Experience with cloud data platforms and services (AWS – Lambda, S3, other services or GCP) and developing data pipelines for embedded devices data.
• Familiarity with deployment infrastructure along with CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop product-focused, robust and efficient robotics system software observability applications and pipelines to understand system status (events, logs, data streams).
• Design and develop robust applications to visualize system status from Logs, Events and Data streams (locally or from cloud backend).
• Identify and prove out new architectural enhancements to the software infrastructure and development processes.
• Contribute to multiple areas of software development, including robotics introspection, observability and system event timeline visualization.
• Contribute to system failure analysis, identify issues and mitigation strategies.
• Interface and collaborate with Embedded software, System software, UI, Data analytics, Field Service User Applications, and Reliability Engineering to bring observability apps from prototype to launch.
