Job summary

Mitsubishi Electric US, Inc. is seeking an experienced technical support engineer for robot products and applications. You will assist key accounts and partners, deliver technical training, and serve as the SME on Mitsubishi robots, PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, and motion control systems.

You will also develop on-site engineering support, maintain product documentation, and stay current with MEUS-IAD products. Travel up to 50% within the U.S. is expected.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of application experience with robot applications and products.
• Experience with Robot, PLC, VFD, HMI, Servo, Motion Control, CNC and Control Networks and other industrial automation applications.
• Ability to develop and maintain in-depth, up-to-date technical knowledge, including the latest MEUS-IAD products, and to serve as escalated technical resource (SME).
• Technical writing skills.
• Ability to operate effectively as part of a team.
• Professional, patient, positive, confident communication style and attitude.
• Ability to write and perform technical product and solution training for groups.
• Organization skills, i.e. for documents, demos, work area, and time management.
• Strong background with Robots.
• Experience with Robot Programming software and Simulation environments.
• Experience with CAD based application software (AutoCAD).
• Experience with SolidWorks and developing application simulations.
• Additional background in PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, industrial networking and IEC 1131 programming standards is preferred.
• Some experience with PC hardware and software required with specific experience in industrial applications is preferred.
• Ability to discuss customer application requirements on the phone or in person.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for robot-based products (PLC, Servo, and Motion Control) and applications to sales personnel focusing on key/target accounts.
• Develop and/or deliver technical training to customers, distributors and MEUS-IAD personnel on Mitsubishi products.
• Provide on-site application engineering and product consulting on Robots.
• Serve as the escalated technical resource (subject matter expert) on robot products and applications.
• Maintain technical documents and documentation on MEUS-IAD products, as assigned.
• Develop technical/application notes where applicable, detailing start-up procedures for new products.
• Maintain current knowledge of new products and applications, through self-study, hands-on testing of demo units, and seminar attendance.
• Provide technical product and solution training to customers, distributors, and MEUS-IAD personnel on Mitsubishi products.
• Actively identify opportunities for custom training classes.
• Deliver presentations to external organizations or entities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
