Job summary

Formic is seeking a Controls and Automation Engineer to design, analyze, and improve deployed robotic systems across North America. You will work on challenging, multidisciplinary problems in production environments and drive reliability through engineering judgment and proactive initiatives.

You will diagnose complex issues, implement structured improvements, and collaborate with Product, Deployment, and Engineering teams to enhance fleet stability and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related engineering field is required.
• 10+ years of manufacturing automation or industrial robotics experience.
• Strong proficiency in PLCs, robots, and control systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced engineering support for escalated technical issues across deployed robotic systems.
• Diagnose and resolve complex automation failures to minimize downtime.
• Design and implement preventative and predictive maintenance strategies.
• Lead system-level continuous improvement initiatives and hardware/software upgrades.
• Analyze production data to identify performance gaps and drive improvements.
• Offer remote support and triage to onsite teams as needed.
• Standardize equipment configurations and improve repeatability with cross-functional teams.
• Maintain comprehensive system documentation and change-control records.
• Mentor field technicians and engineers on troubleshooting best practices.
• Ensure safety standards and quality requirements are met.
