Job summary

Formic Technologies seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to own the mechanical design, documentation, and commissioning of electromechanical systems. You will lead mechanical design from concept through SolidWorks modeling, release, and BOM management while driving hands-on floor integration to scale automation across Formic's fleet.

You will collaborate with Project Engineering and Software teams to design EOAT, maintain model structures, and develop training materials, ensuring production-ready

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in Mechanical Design, Mechatronics, Robotics, or related field.
• Experience owning mechanical designs from concept through manufacturing release.
• Strong drafting and GD&T skills with fabrication-ready drawings, exploded diagrams, and BOMs.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical design of automation systems and assemblies from concept through release.
• Design, prototype, assemble, and test automated EOAT and end-of-line systems using SolidWorks 3D CAD.
• Develop and maintain SolidWorks model structures, assemblies, and release processes with revision control.
• Create detailed mechanical documentation including CAD models, drawings, BOMs, schematics, SOPs, and work instructions.
• Design EOAT and implement on-floor builds, integration and commissioning of automation systems.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and control subsystems for high performance and manufacturability.
• Iterate designs rapidly to meet product development timelines.
• Lead and manage technical aspects of automation projects within the roadmap.
