Job summary

Formic is seeking a Solutions Engineer to join our Solutions Engineering Team. You will act as the primary pre-sales technical partner for prospective customers, translating production goals into scoped automation solutions and aligning them with Formic's modular portfolio.

You will collaborate with Sales and Deployment teams to ensure smooth handoffs, manage multiple proposals, and travel to client sites as needed to validate and scope engagements.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in a pre-sales technical role (Solutions Engineer, Applications Engineer, etc.).
• 3+ years in manufacturing environments (packaging, food production, industrial ops).
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent technical field required; experience may substitute.
• Ability to lead solution-oriented conversations with manufacturing customers.
• Strong ability to run meetings with diverse stakeholders and translate tech to business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical discovery and requirements gathering to inform solution design.
• Analyze production data, CAD files, parts lists, and process details to build scopes.
• Design and scope robotic automation solutions using a modular portfolio.
• Produce quick-turn cost estimates to support proposals and deals.
• Iterate solutions based on feedback from customers and internal stakeholders.
• Drive clean handoffs from Sales/Solutions to Deployment.
• Manage multiple proposals and technical workstreams in parallel.
• Identify gaps and suggest improvements to standard designs, tools, or procedures.
• Visit customer sites to support discovery, validation, and scoping.
