Job summary

Magna International is seeking a seasoned Robotics Engineer to lead development, standardization, and deployment of robotic systems across North American manufacturing sites. The role focuses on industrial robots, cobots, and automation solutions to enable scalable, cost-effective production.

You will drive proof‑of‑concept projects, integrate with PLCs and vision systems, and collaborate with multi‑discipline teams to improve throughput, quality, and reliability.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience with industrial robotics, automation integration, and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with major robotics platforms (FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Universal Robots or equivalent).
  • Experience with cobots and human‑robot interaction applications.
  • Proficiency in robot programming, simulation, and troubleshooting in production environments.
  • Strong understanding of robotics integration with PLC systems, sensors, and vision systems (Cognex, Keyence or similar).
  • Experience with EOAT design and robotic cell optimization.
  • Familiarity with offline programming (OLP), simulation tools, and virtual commissioning is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Industry 4.0 concepts, including smart manufacturing, data collection, and connected equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Support development of robotic concepts, simulations, and feasibility studies.
  • Lead standardization of robotics platforms, programming methodologies, EOAT, and integration approaches.
  • Develop and maintain robotics standards, best practices, and reusable programming structures.
  • Support automation project development and execution, including design reviews and equipment specs.
  • Provide hands-on support during shopfloor implementation, commissioning, and debugging.
  • Program, troubleshoot, and optimize industrial robots and cobots for reliability.
  • Ensure seamless integration with PLC controls, vision systems, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Lead cobot applications ensuring safe human‑robot interaction.
  • Drive continuous improvement to optimize cycle time, throughput, and quality.
  • Perform root cause analyses and corrective actions for automation downtime.
  • Develop and execute POC projects for advanced robotics technologies.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging robotics technologies for scaling across plants.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support system improvements and deployments.
  • Provide training on robotic systems, programming, and safety procedures.
  • Support development of offline programming, simulation, and virtual commissioning.
