Job summary

Magna Seating in Michigan seeks a Robotics Engineer to design, implement, and optimize automated systems across manufacturing. You will lead robot development, integration, and safety improvements in a fast-paced facility.

The role requires hands-on programming, debugging, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance cycle time and quality, while adhering to safety standards and Industry 4.0 practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Robotics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience with industrial robotics (e.g., UNIVERSAL, FANUC, ABB, KUKA).
  • Proficiency in robot programming, troubleshooting, and integration.
  • Strong understanding of PLCs, sensors, and automation controls.
  • Experience with CAD software and reading mechanical/electrical schematics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of machine vision systems (Cognex, Keyence).
  • Familiarity with Industry 4.0, data collection, and smart factory automation.

Responsibilities

  • Design, program, and troubleshoot robotic systems, including industrial robotics, cobots, and automated tooling.
  • Lead integration projects for new robotic cells, conveyors, end-of-arm tooling, and machine vision systems.
  • Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions on automation-related downtime.
  • Support plant engineering teams with continuous improvement initiatives to improve cycle time, quality, and throughput.
  • Create and maintain documentation: schematics, preventive maintenance plans, and programming standards.
  • Train maintenance and production staff on robotic system operation and safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on automation upgrades.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, MIOSHA, and company safety standards.
