Job summary

LightSpeed Build Technologies seeks a Senior World Sensing Engineer to own how our robots sense and understand the world. You will architect the sensor array across factory, mobile, and roof configurations, and define the data pipeline that feeds the world model and teleoperation streams.

You will lead sensor fusion, calibration strategies, and perception pipelines, while mentoring engineers and staying hands-on with production code on real robots weekly.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building perception, sensing or state estimation for physical robots or autonomous systems.
• Architected a multi-sensor suite end to end: selection, placement, synchronization, calibration and the data pipeline.
• Deep expertise in 3D vision and geometry: multi-view geometry, point cloud registration, SLAM and sensor fusion across cameras, lidar and IMU.
• Built a world or scene representation that planning or control consumed, not only detectors.
• Deep learning for perception in PyTorch, from dataset to deployed model.

Responsibilities

• Define sensor suite for each robot family and upgrade it as needed.
• Own sensor selection, placement, and time synchronization across sensors and streams.
• Design and maintain the world model interface used by planner, primitives and teaching pipeline.
• Build and manage the sensor data pipeline: capture, streaming, logging, and delivery to world model and teleoperation.
• Mentor perception engineers and stay hands-on with production code on real robots.
