H&H in New Haven, CT is seeking a Senior Roadway/Transportation Engineer to lead our Highway Group. You will oversee multidisciplinary projects, ensure technical QA/QC, and mentor staff while enhancing client relationships and guiding strategic growth.

Ideal candidates have 15+ years of highway/roadway design, a PE license (or in six months), and familiarity with CTDOT standards. Proficiency in Bentley CONNECT Suite and AutoCAD Civil 3D is required.

Qualifications

• Fifteen or more years of highway/ro adway design experience, including interchanges.
• PE license or ability to obtain licensure within six months.
• Familiarity with Connecticut DOT design standards (CTDOT).
• Drainage design experience preferred.

Responsibilities

H&H is seeking a team-focused, dynamic, innovative, and results-oriented Senior Roadway/Transportation Engineer to join our New Haven, Connecticut office and play a leadership role in the continued growth of our transportation practice. As the Highway Group expands, we are looking for an experienced professional with a proven track record of technical excellence, project management, and client development.

The successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary transportation engineering projects, support project delivery, provide technical quality assurance and quality control, mentor staff, strengthen client relationships, and contribute to the strategic growth of the Highway Group and H&H’s transportation services. A minimum of 15 years of design experience is stated for this opportunity.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers in delivering multidisciplinary transportation engineering projects.
• Provide technical quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC).
• Produce roadway and transportation designs for new and roadway rehabilitation projects.
• Lead client project meetings, participate in proposals and presentations, manage project tasks and projects, and meet with regulatory agencies.
• Communicate and coordinate effectively with other members of the design team.
• Manage, train, and mentor less experienced engineers in the production of plans, specifications, and estimates.
• Oversee construction support services, including the review of submittals and requests for information (RFIs).
• Assist with business development activities and proposal writing.
• Apply knowledge of the policies, procedures, and design standards of state and local transportation agencies.
• Assist with project scheduling and management of project financials.

• Fifteen or more years of relevant highway, interchange, and roadway design experience, as stated in the original requirements.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license, or the ability to obtain licensure within six months.
• Familiarity with the design standards of the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT).
• Drainage design experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Bentley CONNECT Suite and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Detail-oriented, goal-oriented, and self-motivated, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, and to manage small design groups and projects.
