The successful candidate will mentor staff and drive technical excellence across multiple projects. The ideal candidate will support project delivery, QA/QC, and strategic growth of the Highway Group, while collaborating with a nationwide team

Qualifications

• Fifteen or more years of highway/roadway design experience.
• PE license or ability to obtain within six months.
• Familiarity with NHDOT design standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lead and mentor teams on design projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers on multidisciplinary transportation projects.
• Provide QA/QC for designs and analyses.
• Produce roadway and transportation designs for new and rehab projects.
• Lead client meetings, proposals, and project presentations; manage tasks and schedules.
• Coordinate with design team members and stakeholders.
• Mentor junior engineers and oversee production of plans, specs, and estimates.
• Oversee construction support activities, including reviews of submittals and RFIs.
• Assist with business development and proposal writing.
• Apply state and local transportation agency policies and design standards.
• Assist with project scheduling and management of project financials.

H&H is seeking a team-focused, dynamic, innovative, and results-oriented Senior Roadway/Transportation Engineer to join our Bedford, New Hampshire office and play a leadership role in the continued growth of our transportation practice. The successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary transportation engineering projects, support project delivery, provide technical quality assurance and quality control, mentor staff, strengthen client relationships, and contribute to the strategic growth of the Highway Group and H&H's transportation services. A minimum of 15 years of design experience is stated for this opportunity.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers in delivering multidisciplinary transportation engineering projects
• Provide technical quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC)
• Produce roadway and transportation designs for new and roadway rehabilitation projects
• Lead client project meetings, participate in proposals and presentations, manage project tasks and projects, and meet with regulatory agencies
• Communicate and coordinate effectively with other members of the design team
• Manage, train, and mentor less experienced engineers in the production of plans, specifications, and estimates
• Oversee construction support services, including the review of submittals and requests for information (RFIs)
• Assist with business development activities and proposal writing
• Apply knowledge of the policies, procedures, and design standards of state and local transportation agencies
• Assist with project scheduling and management of project financials

Requirements

• Fifteen or more years of relevant highway, interchange, and roadway design experience, as stated in the original requirements
• Professional Engineer (PE) license, or the ability to obtain licensure within six months
• Familiarity with the design standards of the New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT)
• Drainage design experience preferred
• Proficiency in Bentley CONNECT Suite and AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Detail-oriented, goal-oriented, and self-motivated, with strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, and to manage small design groups and projects
