Job summary

H&H in New Haven, Connecticut, is seeking a motivated Roadway/Transportation Designer to join our Highway Group. The role involves assisting in roadway and transportation design on a variety of projects and collaborating with a team of experienced professionals.

Candidates should have a BSCE, zero to five years civil engineering experience, EIT preferred, and familiarity with Bentley CONNECT Suite, AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, InRoads, AutoTurn, and GuideSign.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE).
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred.
• Zero to five years civil engineering experience.
• Experience with Bentley CONNECT Suite and AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and development of conceptual alternatives and final design plans for highway, roadway, interchange, and drainage projects.
• Assist in the design and production of traffic control and staging plans, as well as traffic, signing, and striping plans.
• Perform geometric design and plan development using CAD software (MicroStation, AutoCAD, InRoads, AutoTurn, GuideSign).
• Assist in the design of ADA-compliant facilities, including sidewalks, shared-use paths, and intersection curb ramps.

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE).
• Zero to five years of civil engineering experience.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification and prior internship experience preferred.
• Experience with Bentley CONNECT Suite and AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred.
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable working in a team environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong mathematical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
