Job summary

CHA Consulting, Inc. seeks a Principal Roadway Engineering Technician to lead the design and production of complex highway and rail projects in Boston, MA and surrounding offices. This senior role mentors junior designers and coordinates with multidisciplinary teams to deliver accurate, coordinated transportation solutions.

You will use AutoCAD and Civil 3D, review contract documents, and contribute to reports, estimates and schedules for transportation infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Engineering Science, or related technical field.
• Minimum of 12 years of document production experience in the engineering discipline.
• MassDOT experience strongly preferred.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead the research, preparation, and production of highway and rail design drawings using industry software such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated solutions for roadway, intersection, streetscape, right-of-way, rehabilitation, and rail projects
• Provide technical oversight and mentorship to junior designers, ensuring project drawings are accurate, consistent, coordinated, and aligned with applicable standards
• Examine complex contract documents and drawings for errors, revising as needed to align with contract specifications and project requirements
• Support the development of technical reports, material costs, construction estimations, and production schedules for transportation infrastructure projects
• Conduct project review meetings and prepare project “As-Builts” documentation
