Job summary

CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Principal Engineering Designer to lead the design and production of complex transportation deliverables across roads, highways, streetscapes and rail lines in Boston, Burlington, Norwell, or Providence.

In this senior role, you’ll mentor junior designers and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver accurate, coordinated transportation solutions. You will guide the development of technical drawings, review contract documents for compliance, and support

Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering or related field required.
• Minimum 12 years of document production experience in engineering.
• MassDOT experience strongly preferred.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D and MS Office.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; collaborative mindset.
• Expert knowledge of design drawing layouts.

Responsibilities

• Lead design drawings for highway and rail projects using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Collaborate with engineers and project managers on integrated solutions.
• Provide technical oversight and mentor junior designers.
• Review contract documents for accuracy and alignment with specs.
• Support reports, cost estimates, and production schedules.
• Lead project reviews and prepare As-Builts documentation.
