Job summary

EXP in Celebration, Florida seeks a Senior Roadway Inspector to document on-site activities, oversee contractor compliance, and review construction drawings to minimize issues. The role requires multiple CTQP certifications, strong Excel skills, and a valid driver’s license. You will supervise junior inspectors and may work weekends as needed.

The position emphasizes teamwork, site safety, and coordination with the Project Administrator across road and bridge projects under FDOT standards.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent with four years in construction inspection, two in bridge/roadway inspection.
• Multiple CTQP certifications required for inspection roles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Word.
• Valid driver’s license with clean motor vehicle report.
• Able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Document all activities on site and prepare inspection reports.
• Oversee contractor compliance with contract requirements.
• Review drawings to minimize issues and extra work orders.
• Take accurate measurements for payments and progress tracking.
• Assist Project Administrator with submittals and staff coordination.
• Attend progress meetings and supervise junior inspector.
• Inspect soils, concrete, steel, and masonry for road/bridge projects.
• Read and interpret drawings and specifications.
• Monitor Work Zone Traffic Control per contract documents.
• Work as part of a team; weekend/evening work may be required.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

• Document all activities on site during duration of the contract and prepare inspection reports.
• Oversee, document, review, and assess contractor’s compliance with contractual requirements.
• Review construction documents and drawings in order to minimize issues and to reduce the potential for extra work orders during construction.
• Take accurate and detailed measurements of all work performed by the contractor to ensure accurate payments.
• Assist the Project Administrator with the review of contract submissions (critical path schedules, RFIs, etc).
• Assist the project Administrator with staff scheduling/coordination.
• Attend progress meeting and provide feedback on ongoing construction and issues.
• Supervision of Junior inspector.
• Inspection and testing of soils, concrete, steel and masonry materials for road and bridge projects. Experience with FDOT construction and specifications desired.
• Reading and interpreting drawings and specifications.
• Observing general job safety practices.
• Monitoring and inspecting the Work Zone Traffic Control in accordance with contract documents.
• The ability to work as a team is essential.
• Possibility of weekend and evening work as dictated by contract.

What Your Experience Looks Like

• High school graduate or equivalent plus four (4) years of experience in construction inspection, two (2) years of which shall have been in bridge and/or roadway construction inspection.
