Job summary

EXP is seeking a Project Engineer / Project Administrator to join our Transportation Construction Services team in Florida. This role provides leadership, oversight, and construction engineering administration on transportation infrastructure projects, ensuring delivery and FDOT compliance.

You will manage CEI processes, direct staff, and maintain project documentation, while coordinating with FDOT, contractors, and consultants.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management required.
• PE license in Florida preferred.
• Two years of engineering experience on relevant transportation projects.
• A Master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience.
• Eight years CEI, roadway, or bridge construction experience for non-engineering candidates.
• Relevant transportation project experience must be included.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate all phases of Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) construction administration.
• Direct and assign work to administrative and field staff.
• Provide leadership and guidance throughout transportation construction projects.
• Prepare, review, and manage progress estimates and final estimates.
• Exercise independent judgment and initiative in resolving project‑related issues.
• Ensure compliance with FDOT standards, specifications, policies, and procedures.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and construction records.
• Communicate effectively with FDOT representatives, contractors, consultants, and project team members.

Education

Engineering degree (or Engineering Technology, Construction Management)

Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida (preferred)

Master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience

High school diploma or equivalent (for non-engineering background)

FT CEI / roadway or bridge construction experience (8 years for non-engineering)

Two years of engineering experience on relevant transportation projects

What Your Experience Looks Like

Candidates with a degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management

• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Florida preferred.
• Minimum of two (2) years of engineering experience on relevant transportation projects.
• A Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.

Candidates without a degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of eight (8) years of CEI, roadway, or bridge construction experience.
• At least two (2) years of experience must include relevant transportation projects.

Certifications

• FDOT Advanced Maintenance of Traffic (MOT).
• CTQP Final Estimates Level II.
• CTQP Quality Control Manager.
