Job summary

A construction firm in Tampa, FL seeks an experienced Inspector for Florida Department of Transportation projects. You will document site activities, ensure compliance with contract requirements, and supervise inspections of materials. The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of construction inspection experience, particularly in bridge and roadway construction. Required certifications include CTQP Concrete Field Inspector and a valid driver’s license. This is a full-time role with possible weekend and evening work.

Your work environment at EXP

EXP is currently searching for an Inspector for our Tampa, FL office to work on Florida Department of Transportation projects.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

• Document all activities on site during duration of the contract and prepare inspection reports.
• Oversee, document, review, and assess contractor’s compliance with contractual requirements.
• Review construction documents and drawings in order to minimize issues and to reduce the potential for extra work orders during construction.
• Take accurate and detailed measurements of all work performed by the contractor to ensure accurate payments.
• Assist the Project Administrator with the review of contract submissions (critical path schedules, RFI’s etc).
• Assist the project Administrator with staff scheduling/coordination.
• Attend progress meeting and provide feedback on ongoing construction and issues.
• Supervision of Junior Inspector.
• Inspection and testing of soils, concrete, steel and masonry materials for road and bridge projects. Experience with FDOT construction and specifications desired.
• Reading and interpreting drawings and specifications.
• Observing general job safety practices.
• Monitoring and inspecting the Work Zone Traffic Control in accordance with contract documents.
• The ability to work as a team a plus.
• Possibility of weekend and evening work as dictated by contract.

What your experience looks like

• Experience as a Inspector on Florida Department of Transportation projects in the Tampa, FL area.
• High School diploma or equivalent plus (1+) years of experience in construction inspection, two years of which shall have been in bridge/or roadway construction inspection.
• Valid driver’s license
