Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Inspector for on-site field work across multiple project locations. You will inspect roadway, bridge, drainage, erosion and maintenance aspects, ensuring conformity with plans and specifications.

This role requires the ability to read plans, perform complex calculations, and communicate findings clearly. The candidate will join CDM Smith’s CEI team and operate with limited supervision, supporting project success with precise documentation, safety awareness, and teamwork

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or national entity such as ACI or NICET if required by client/jurisdiction.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 6 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections of construction to evaluate materials and processes against plans and specs.
• Use higher-grade equipment and perform complex calculations for inspections.
• Work under supervision appropriate to assignment knowledge.
• Review drawings to prepare for inspection.
• Document and communicate inspection results to supervisor.
