Job summary

CDM Smith's CEI team is seeking an Inspector to perform complex construction inspections at project sites including roadways, bridges, drainage, erosion control, and maintenance traffic. The role requires reading drawings and plans, and applying provisions and specs with limited supervision.

You will work on-site at multiple locations across the region, travel 20–40% of the time, and hold a high school diploma with relevant certifications. A valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or NICET in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required; travel frequency 20%–40%.
• 6 years of related experience; equivalent experience considered in lieu of degree.

Responsibilities

• Performing complex and routine inspections of construction to verify materials and processes meet plans and specs.
• Uses higher-grade equipment and performs complex calculations for inspection.
• Reviews drawings to prepare for inspection.
• Documents and communicates inspection results to the supervisor.
• Reads and interprets construction plans and contract provisions.
