Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Inspector for its CEI team in Asheville to monitor construction activities across roadways, bridges, drainage, and more. You will perform complex inspections, review plans and specifications, and ensure work complies with contract provisions. Travel 20%–40% is expected.

The role requires a high school diploma, relevant certifications (ACI/NICET preferred), and 4 years of related experience. Valid driver’s license is essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or National Entity (ACI/NICET) in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 4 years of related experience. Travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections of construction to evaluate materials and processes against plans, specs, and special provisions.
• Use higher grade equipment and perform complex calculations for construction inspection.
• Work under limited or direct supervision depending on knowledge for the assignment.
• Review drawings to prepare for the construction inspection.
• Understand the design of the construction to be inspected.
• Document and communicate inspection results to the supervisor.
