Amgen is seeking a Senior RNA Chemist to advance programmable mRNA design and purification strategies for next‑generation RNA therapeutics in Thousand Oaks, CA. You will lead experiments across design, analytical characterization, and platform innovation, collaborating with molecular biology, formulation, and translational science teams.

Qualifications

• Doctorate or professional degree with relevant post‑doc experience or equivalent.
• Strong background in RNA chemistry and nucleic acid therapeutics.
• Experience with in‑vitro transcription, purification, and analytical characterization.

Responsibilities

• Design high‑throughput strategies for modular mRNA elements.
• Advance mRNA platform technologies and sequence/structure optimization.
• Lead efforts to improve RNA quality, stability, and biological activity.
• Develop purification strategies including FPLC methods.
• Use analytical methods like HPLC, LC‑MS, and gel electrophoresis for mRNA characterization.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and document findings.
