Job summary

Hill International is seeking a Risk Manager in Berkeley, California to lead the project risk management in a complex capital program. You will maintain risk plans, manage the risk register, and advise leadership on threats and opportunities affecting scope, cost, and schedule.

You will facilitate risk workshops, coordinate with project controls, and ensure disciplined risk-management with traceable mitigation actions and milestones.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field and at least eight years of experience in risk management or project controls.
• Experience leading risk management for large, technically complex projects.
• Experience with Monte Carlo simulation, estimate uncertainty, schedule uncertainty, sensitivity analysis, and contingency assessment.
• Experience integrating risk information with an Integrated Master Schedule and cost estimates.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and periodically update the ALS-U Risk Management Plan, supporting procedures, risk taxonomy, scoring criteria, and governance cadence.
• Maintain the project risk register and associated configuration-controlled records.
• Serve as the principal project advisor on risk-management matters.
• Provide independent assessments of threats and opportunities affecting scope, cost, schedule, and performance.
• Facilitate the ALS-U Risk Management Board and focused risk reviews.
• Develop meeting agendas, track actions, and elevate unresolved risks to leadership.
• Establish and maintain a disciplined risk-management process with clear ownership and traceable mitigations.
• Coordinate risk workshops, reviews, deep dives, and lessons learned.
• Identify risks across reviews (technical, procurement, staffing, logistics, etc.).
• Develop risk statements with causal events, affected conditions, and consequences.
• Ensure risk entries include defensible bases for probability, cost, schedule, and performance.
