Job summary

Rocket Lab in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Senior RF Phased Array Engineer II to lead development of RF products and phased arrays for space systems. You will model antenna performance, guide an interdisciplinary team, and transition designs from concept to production.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in electrical engineering and 8+ years of RF experience, plus strong knowledge of link budgets, interference effects, and space-grade systems; familiarity with spacecraft payloads is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and 8+ years of relevant RF experience.
• Fundamental RF knowledge including link budget analysis and linearity.
• Theoretical and practical understanding of RF communications and navigation systems and components.
• Experience running modeling and simulation of antenna / phased array performance.
• Deep understanding of the effects of interference on the system.
• Experience delivering a RF system from requirements to space-worthy products.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end efforts including architecture design, prototyping, integration, test, and flight development.
• Model and simulate array performance.
• Lead efforts with an interdisciplinary team of RF, digital, power, mechanical, thermal, and structural engineers.
• Transition developments from new product introduction to production.
• Interface with vendors and customers.
• Develop test plans and procedures for testing active antennas – including EIRP & G/T.
• Design and development of GSE and production automation.
• Support product documentation including ICDs and User Manuals.
