Job summary

MACOM in North Carolina is seeking a Senior Applications Engineer to support GaN power amplifier MMICs and module products. You will perform hands-on RF measurements, characterize devices, and guide customers from sampling to design-in.

You will collaborate with design, product management, and operations while building robust test boards, writing application notes, and delivering practical technical guidance. The role demands strong communication and a proactive, lab‑oriented mindset.

Qualifications

  • Typically 5+ years of RF/microwave engineering experience.
  • BSEE or BSECE required; MSEE preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with RF/microwave test equipment and measurement techniques.
  • Ability to plan and execute investigations and communicate practical conclusions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; able to support customer-facing discussions.

Responsibilities

  • Support applications engineering activities for GaN PA MMICs and module products.
  • Characterize products for customer inquiries, design-in activity, sampling requests, and internal product-support needs.
  • Plan, execute, and document RF and microwave measurements (small-signal, large-signal, gain, efficiency, and stability).
  • Help interpret customer data and correlate observations with MACOM measurements and specs.
  • Manage and support evaluation-board builds for customer sampling, including coordination of requirements and test readiness.
  • Debug evaluation boards, fixtures, test setups, and application circuits for successful demonstrations.
  • Contribute to application notes, test reports, datasheets, and technical collateral.
  • Collaborate with design engineering, product management, operations, quality, sales, and marketing.
  • Support customer meetings by preparing data and guiding next steps.
  • Maintain lab records, test data, and documentation; improve lab processes.
