Job summary

Applegreen is seeking a Category Manager to develop and execute category strategies across our retail business. You will manage assortment, pricing, promotions, and vendor partnerships to drive sales growth and profitability.

The role requires collaboration with Operations, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance in a fast-paced environment. A Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years in retail buying or related fields are preferred, with a hybrid work arrangement including in-office days in Glen Rock, NJ.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Merchandising, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years in retail buying, category management, merchandising, or procurement.
• Strong experience negotiating supplier agreements and managing vendor relationships.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and office productivity tools.
• Experience with PDI and retail reporting platforms.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute category strategies that support sales growth, margin improvement, and overall objectives.
• Manage product assortment, pricing, promotions, and merchandising plans for assigned categories.
• Analyze sales, margin, market, and customer data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
• Conduct category reviews and develop action plans to maximize performance.
• Deliver accurate category forecasts, budgets, and performance reporting.
• Monitor product lifecycle performance and recommend assortment changes.
• Build and maintain strong vendor relationships and negotiate favorable terms.
• Develop planograms and coordinate promotions with Operations/Marketing.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to execute category initiatives.
