Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Full Time Resident Engineer to support the PMCM team across the Bay Area, Sacramento, or Central Valley. You will supervise field staff, review construction activities, and coordinate with clients and contractors to meet project objectives.

The ideal candidate has 12+ years’ experience, a California PE license, and proven Caltrans highway project experience. This role emphasizes safety, contract understanding and ethical decision-making, with occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering-related field (e.g. Civil Engineering, Construction Management).
• At least 12 years of directly relevant experience including Resident Engineer roles.
• At least 5 years as Resident Engineer on Caltrans highway projects of similar size and complexity.
• PE license / California-licensed civil engineer.
• Ability to read and understand contract documents.
• Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and materials (Caltrans).
• Valid California driver’s license.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Commitment to safety and adherence to company policies.

Responsibilities

• Plans, reviews and assigns work of subordinate field personnel.
• Reviews construction processes and layouts.
• Reviews project activities with client and contractor’s field supervision.
• Oversees materials testing activities.
• Reviews daily inspection reports and documentation.
• Attends and may lead construction meetings with client and contractors.
• Adheres to WSP’s Code of Conduct and policies.
• Performs additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
